It becomes glaringly obvious in the moments after Lloyd announces his plan of running away that if Zelos weren't already upset at something, Lloyd has succeeded in completely pissing him off. The realization settles badly under his skin, causing him to curl in on himself a little as Zelos reacts, all tense and hissing and barely-contained furiousness. Still, Lloyd tries to reason with himself, this isn't all bad. Anger is - okay, it's not exactly what Lloyd was expecting, having thought Zelos would be either indifferent or something first and foremost, but. Lloyd can deal with anger. It can be extinguished.
Forcing himself to keep Zelos' gaze, even past the strength of Zelos' glare, Lloyd tries again. "I'm running away to a small border town in the south," Lloyd states, stepping forward a little to make up for the distance Zelos made between them in his shock. He takes a moment to breathe, swallowing down the fear that swims through his body, threatening to drown him in his doubts until he gives up the fight and succumbs. "And..."
This is it. The moment of truth.
"... I want you to come with me. We can run away, together."
it's fine they're both depressed
